On the 12th of April 2002 Luhansk Taras Shevchenko State Pedagogical University was visited by the  representatives of the French Embassy in Ukraine Olivier Guillaume -culture and cooperation affairs  counselor- and Fabrice Disdier - director of French Scientific- Methodological Center in Donetsk.
Their aim of their visit was to estimate the present-day state of the French language in Luhansk and to expand the existing academic and cultural ties between our countries. Also to establish new profitable contacts and foster the development of further France-Ukraine relations.
The agenda of the official meeting with the University administration contained the following items:
· development of Ukraine-France relationships in the area of higher education;
· establishment and nurturing partnership contacts with Universities in France;
· the participation of our University in International exchange program, including teachers' and students' exchange;
· in-depth studying of the French language by students with major French language and participation of teachers, professors and students in International exchange programs.
