Main goals of the Department of International Cooperation:
· To establish international contacts with other Universities; to
extend existing connections, and make them more profound.
· To provide information about various programs and grants
· To keep a database on exchange programs
· To provide consultation services to teachers and students on preparing
applications for exchange programs

Program of International fund ''Renaissance'':
FCO Chevering/University of Edinburgh scholarships for post-graduate
students: 12-months probation period for thesis scientific research
in the field of Economics and Social History, Law, Political Studies,
Social Anthropology, Psychology, Sociology, Social work (for post-graduate
students and research workers).
During the year of 2001, 37 students and 10 university teachers
won grants for participation in exchange programs and probation
periods in Europe and the U.S.
RESULTS OF INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION
- Participation in the contest held by the Renaissance Foundation:
''Higher Education: Leadership for the Progress''. The department
of Philosophy and Sociology (Cononov I.F.) has become a partner
in the mega project (the sum of financing $60,000).
- Hosting the second international conference ''Dynamism of Social
Processes in the Post-soviet Society'' (the department of Russian
Linguistics), which resulted in the University entering a collaboration
agreement with the Geneva Centre of political and social research.
In November of 2001 a site with articles and published materials
of the conference 2000 was launched.
- Presentation of a unique method of teaching English by the representatives
of the Canadian distributing company ''Learning English with Laughter
and Fun''. An agreement was signed about creating text - books for
students who are studying conversational English until the year
2003.
- Presentation of educational programs concerning Civics and Democracy
Studies by the coordinator of international cooperation (Saint-Norbert
College, the U.S.) and a professor of Lewis University (Illinois,
the U.S.).
- An agreement of cooperation was signed between the Institute of
Culture and Art of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko State Pedagogical University
and Northern -Kentucky University (the U.S.) and with Thomas Moore
College, the U.S.
- Cooperation with the U.S. Peace Corps. During 2001-2003, Julie
Sonnichsen, a Peace Corps volunteer, has been working in Luhansk
Pedagogical University and teaching English in the English Philology
department.
- Information about Luhansk Taras Shevchenko State Pedagogical University
is included in the annual collection of articles ''Education in
Ukraine'' 2000 and 2001, which is distributed at international exhibitions
abroad by the Ukrainian Centre of international education (Kyiv).
- The project ''Globalisation and Democratisation of Education''
is being launched together with Saint-Norbert College (Wisconsin,
the U.S.) and Lewis University (Illinois, the U.S.) under the auspices
of American government.
- A cultural exchange program with Wharton County Junior College
(Texas, the U.S.) is worked out for the English language teachers.
- A direct contact with the Association of Polish and Ukrainian
universities was established as well as with the Maria Curie - Sklodowska
University (Lublin, Poland).
- An agreement of cooperation was signed with Volgograd University
(Russia) for the establishment and implementation of common projects.
- The department of History of Ukraine together with the Institute
of Ukrainian research of Harvard University is investigating the
problems of informational activity of political policy in the USSR.
- The department of Theory and History of Playing Musical Instruments
is studying the problems of Musical Pedagogy together with Thomas
Moore College, the U.S. An international conference ''Musical Culture
in the Educational System: International Experience'' is being held
together with the Northern -Kentucky University. The department
is partaking in the program ''Klang Kerper Schweiz'' (Hannover,
Germany).
PROSPECTS
To establish and maintain new overall educational and scientific
contacts with universities, research centers, respective national
and international organizations and participation in international
programs and projects:
Negotiations are being carried on concerning creating a common faculty
of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko State Pedagogical University with Fern
University (Hagen, Germany) with an outlook of obtaining diplomas
of both Universities.
The University is collaborating with embassies of Egypt, Libya,
China and Japan aiming to find universities-partners in countries
of the East. The department of Conversational English is creating
a Center of Oriental Cultures for students studying oriental languages.
A database about international funds and universities abroad is
being created in order to find sponsors and partners for faculties
and departments of the University. An informational seminar for
heads of departments will be held concerning the possibilities of
participation in educational programs, summer schools, probation
periods and carrying scientific research in the countries of the
Northern America and Europe.
